NCAA Football Pool Rules/Help

Log in each week using your username and password. If you have trouble accessing the site, logging in or completing your entry, please visit the Rules / Help section on the website first, and if that does not help you solve your problem then contact the Administrator for help. When in doubt mail your picks to the administrator before game time so we can go in later and record your picks.

Making and Changing Picks

Click on the Make Picks button on the header on the main page. This will take you to the page with the current week’s games. There you’ll be able to make your picks for the current week. You need to select a winner for each game vs. the line. After you’ve made your team selections, you then need to put in the point value you wish to place on each game in the box to the right. No numbers can be repeated, and the numbers will depend on the number of games being played…i.e.: 16 games for the week, then the points will go from 1 to 16 (with 16 being your most confident pick and highest value). Once you’ve made your picks click the submit button.

Early Games

On weeks where there are early games, like Thursday and/or Friday games, you will be able to make your picks for just the early games, and won’t need to make your picks for the Saturday games at the same time.

*** You will, however, need to insert generic point values for all the games, which can be changed later when you make the rest of your picks. All picks for early games will lock at the posted game time. All Saturday game picks will lock at 10:00 am on Saturday (Mountain Time).

Missed Picks

If you forget to make your picks for an early game, then you will be given the lowest score available for that week’s games. For example, if there are 16 games this week, and you forget to put your picks in for the early game, say Thursday, then you will be given -1 pt, if there are two games that night and you miss both, then you will be given -1 pt and -2 pts, and so on.

If you forget to make your picks for a week, you will be given the lowest score that was recorded for that week. Your picks will not default to home teams and random numbers. If you forget to pick a team, but have a point value assigned to the game, you will then receive the negative value you assigned. If you forget to assign a point value for a game, but picked a team, then the missing point value will be assigned. All other situations will be up to the discretion of the pool management. NOTE, an error message will appear to let you know you have incomplete picks, but the picks you have made will be recorded. So for example, on the days when you have early games, and only make your pick for that day’s game, an error message will still appear letting you know your remaining picks will need to be made, but the pick(s) you’ve made will be recorded. Got it?

Changing Your Picks

You will always be able to change your picks as many times as you want up until the time the games lock.

Waiting Until the Last Minute

If you’re one of those people who like to make their picks at the last minute, you run the risk of getting cut off at game time. It’s your responsibility to get your picks in on time, so if you get cut off, you’ll be given the lowest score recorded for that week. Advice: Get your picks in early, then go back and make changes later if you want...at least that way you have picks in the system.

Scoring

For each game you pick correctly you will be awarded the positive amount of points you placed on that game, and for each game you pick incorrectly you will be awarded the negative amount of points you placed on that game. All points will be tallied each week, and the weekly winners will be the players with the highest totals for the week, and the season winners will be the players with the highest overall totals for the season. There will be no ties, so either positive or negative points will be awarded for each game played.

Tie Breakers

Weekly: The first tie breaker for the weekly match ups will go to the player with the higher number of games picked correctly for the week. The second tie breaker for the weekly match ups will go to the player who comes closest in picking the total points scored for the last game played on Saturday, and it does not matter if you pick over the final score. The winner will be the player who picked closest to the final score. If there are two players who are equidistant away from the total number of points scored, then in that case the person who is under, and not over, will win the tie breaker.

Season: The first season long tie breaker will go to the player who has picked the higher number of games correctly throughout the season. The second season long tie breaker will go to the player who comes closest in picking the total points scored for the last game played. The winner will be the player who picked closest to the final score. If there are two players who are equidistant away from the total number of points scored, then in that case the person who is under, and not over, will win the tie breaker.

Winners

Weekly: There will be 2 weekly winners like we ran it last year. The pot will depend on how many people we have playing…..but the goal is to have the first-place winner for the week win $100, the second place person win $50.

Season: The goal this year will be to match last year with paying out the top 5 spots, plus the Highest Weekly Score for the season.

Payment

The total cost for the season is $150.00 ($10.00/week). NEW POLICY: Please note payment for the pool is due no later than Friday, September 29th. This means money must be in my hands by that date, not in the mail. This gives you over a month to get me the payment so no excuses. Anyone who has not paid by that date will be removed from the pool. If you are someone who would like to break the payments up then I will accept the following method: you can send me 3 checks by 9/30 – one for the first payment of $50 by the 9/30 cutoff date, a second check for $50 post-dated for no later than October 31st, and a third check for $50 post-dated for no later than November 30th. Some of you have done this in the past and it has worked fine. By agreeing to be in this pool, you are agreeing to the fact that you will be participating for the full season, 17 weeks, will pay for the full season, and will not back out at anytime during the season. The payment records will be kept on a separate sheet that will be sent out to you each week, it will not be linked to the website. Please keep in mind that it is also your responsibility to make sure that your payment has been recorded. If you make a payment and 4 weeks later tell me it hasn’t been recorded, what is recorded will stand, so please keep track of your payments to make sure they’ve been recorded.
